will the main computer be damaged if I disconnect its electrical supply?

1-just got my guide...I remember techs warning about frying the main computer if you disconnect power.

Is this an issue?

2-if I purchase 2 gen II batteries, after replacing all the cells,I will have cells left over. is this correct?

3-can I mix and match genI and genII cells or should it be all one flavor
